Summer Service Trip for Students

For the past six years, a group of IVC students and faculty have traveled up to Kewadin, MI for a week-long service on the Grand Traverse Native American Reservation. The trip is open to any IVC student.  Over the past six years, the people on the reservation have become an extended family. Any interested student stop by the guidance office for more information. There will be an informational meeting for all freshmen and sophomores in the auditorium on Thursday.

The particulars of the trip are as follows:

When: June 21-30 (We leave EARLY on the 21st)
Where: Kewadin, MI (We will be staying at the Indian Mission Methodist Church grounds)
Cost: $275 - Partial scholarships available.  ($75 deposit due by May 5th)
Chaperones: There will be a minimum of 4 adults traveling with the 25-30 students.

Planned jobs and activities: We usually do not know the exact jobs until we actually get up to the reservation. There are a few jobs that I know we will be doing...landscaping, painting, and fixing up two community centers. Some of the activities include the dunes, sled in the hills (new), fishtown, and others.

We will  be camping outside so each students does need to bring or share a tent with others. We do have extra tents and air mattresses.
