Summer Service Trip Opportunity for Students

For the past five years, a group of IVC students and faculty have traveled up to Kewadin, MI for a week-long service on the Grand Traverse Reservation. The trip is open to any IVC student.  Over the past five years, the people on the reservation have become an extended family.  Any interested student stop by the guidance office for more information. There will be an informational meeting for all freshmen and sophomores in the auditorium on Wednesday.

The particulars of the trip are as follows:

When: June 18-27 (We leave EARLY on the 18th)
Where: Kewadin, MI (We will be staying at the Indian Mission Methodist Church grounds)
Cost: $250 - Partial scholarships available.
Chaperones: There will be a minimum of 4 adults traveling with the 25 students.

Planned jobs and activities: We usually do not know the exact jobs until we actually get up to the reservation. There are a few jobs that I know we will be doing...building a ramp and deck for a local resident, fixing two water leaks in the community centers, and landscaping.

We will  be camping outside so each students does need to bring or share a tent with others. We do have extra tents and air mattresses.
