Important Dates for Senior Parents

Below is a list of important dates this year with a short description of each. We encourage seniors and parents to attend as many of these programs as possible. For more info on any of them, please call (309) 274-5481 x2.

Off to College Breakfast
Friday, Sept 8th
8:00-9:00 a.m. - Chillicothe Library

This is our 13th year offering an Off to College Breakfast at the Chilli library. The breakfast will cover the application process, some of the ins and outs of college, tips

for parents, and more.  The whole program lasts about 45 minutes.

Financial Aid Night
Tuesday, Sept 12th
6:00 p.m. - IVC Library (at 5:30 we will have a condensed version of the Off to College Breakfast)

A representative from the IL Student Assistance Commission will be at IVC to present a program on financial aid and scholarships. This program is very informative, especially for those parents who are new to the college application process. FAFSA will also be introduced. The counselors will have a shortened presentation of what was covered at the Off to College Breakfast the previous Friday.

Shape Your Future Week(s)
Sept 25th - Oct 6th

Over 25 colleges, military, and apprenticeship programs will be visiting IVC during this two week period of time. The juniors and seniors will be given the opportunity to meet with representatives during the school day. PLEASE encourage them to sign up.  As the week approaches, the students will be sent a form to sign up for schools in which they are interested.

FAFSA Release Date (first day to fill out FAFSA)
December Something

The government has delayed the opening of FAFSA for this year's seniors. Typically October 1st, the date has been moved to "some time in December."  We will keep parents updated as more info is given to us.
